The Oblong Friends Meeting House and Toffey's family, end of summer 1968, my mother, Dorothy in camera. Meeting House, Meetinghouse Road and Quaker Hill Road, NE, corner to Christ Church, southwest, erect in 1730s and build a meeting house in 1740.
In 1766 raise in meeting house it was "consistent with the Christian spirit to hold a person in slavery… a framed house of timber, the dimensions to be 45ft long, 40ft wide and 15ft stud to admit of galleries."
Revolution War in 1778 and winter of 1779, George Washington and a military hospital here.
Circa 1993 in old cabin, Garret and dog Spike 20 minutes walking west, Game Farm Road to Meetinghouse Road!
Anniversary built in 1764, 250 years for Oblong Meeting Friends. Outside, speaker, Bill Finlayson, my great-great grandfather, Denial Toffey in ‘twenty-one Toffey’s,’ Denial son, George Akin Toffey in town cemetery, and son, John James Toffey.
